Kiro's Emily by Abbi Glines ~ Release Week Event

TitleKiro's Emily (Rosemary Beach)
Author: Abbi Glines
Publisher: Atria Books (December 15, 2014)

The year is 1992, and no one on the rock music scene is hotter than Kiro Manning, the lead singer of Slacker Demon. With a multi-platinum record, total ownership of the Billboard charts, sold-out concerts, and sinful amounts of money, Kiro can have anything—and anyone—he wants.

So when a dark-haired, conservative beauty rebuffs him at a concert after-party, his first thought is, “Who the hell does she think she is?” His second thought: “How do I make her mine?” Kiro has always loved a good challenge, but not every girl wants to get involved with a rock god. Especially this girl.

He let her go that night, but he never forgot her. And when they met again, he vowed not to give up again so easily.

As the world worshipped Kiro, he came to worship the girl, who became everything he never knew he needed. The only girl he would ever love. His Emily.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes a heart-wrenching e-novella in the Rosemary Beach series about the star-crossed romance between Kiro and Emily, first introduced in Take a Chance. This is Abbi’s holiday gift to the devoted fans of the series.

EXCERPT
Kiro

I knocked on the door, trying hard not to be pissed that this piece of shit apartment complex with no fucking security was Emmy’s home. This wasn’t where I’d been picturing her. And I pictured her a fucking lot.
Waiting with my hands tucked in the pockets of my jeans, I was trying to remain calm. But fuck it all, I had been waiting to see her face for months. Every time I heard her voice my entire body went on high alert. I couldn’t rein in its attraction to Emmy.
I heard a chain sliding out of the lock as the door swung open, revealing her in a pair of tiny little shorts and a camisole. Her hair was tangled and her gorgeous eyes were wide.
“Kiro,” she said, unable to hide the grin that lit up her face. It was midnight. I had changed my flight from London to come here instead of Los Angeles. I didn’t fucking miss my house. I only missed one thing while on tour, and it was this face. Fuck me.
“I wake you up, angel?” I asked, stepping into her apartment with my hands still firmly stuck in the pockets of my jeans. I didn’t trust them around Emily. They wanted to touch her.
It was then I realized she had just crawled out of bed. Her hands went to her hair as she ran her fingers through the strands, trying to tame them. But I liked it just the way it was.
“I… you’re here. At my apartment.” She sounded flustered. Then her nose scrunched up and she frowned. “Oh wait. I’m asleep. This is a dream.” Her face fell.
Fuck it! I took my hands out of my pockets and wrapped her in my arms. She inhaled deeply as I held her to my chest. “I’m real and you’re very awake,” I told her, unable to keep the thickness out of my throat. She got to me. She was fucking with my head. Seriously fucking with it.
“You feel real.” Her arms came around my waist.
I closed my eyes and soaked her in. Pressing a kiss to the top of her head, I stood there with her in my arms as long as she would let me. Hell, I would’ve stood there all damn night if she wanted me to.
“I thought you’d be ready to go home. Aren’t you homesick?” she asked, tilting her head back to look up at me.
“I was only missing one thing, angel. And it wasn’t in fucking L.A.” I winked as I cupped her face and felt her soft skin under my thumbs as I brushed her cheekbones.
She frowned a moment. “Do you mean me?”
I hauled her against me and lifted her inches off the floor as I took the few strides to the sofa and sank down with her in my lap. She didn’t pull away, and God, that felt good. “So fucking sweet,” I murmured as I stared down into her face. I hadn’t made this shit up. She was better than I remembered. Fuck, she was so much better. That voice had gotten me through the tour.

Now Available ~ You Were Mine by Abbi Glines

We're celebrating the release of YOU WERE MINE  by New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Abbi Glines!

TitleYou Were Mine (Rosemary Beach)
Author: Abbi Glines
Publisher: Atria Books (December 2, 2014)

From #1 "New York Times "bestselling author Abbi Glines comes a brand-new Rosemary Beach novel about Tripp Newark and his hidden romantic past with Bethy Lowry.

In the eyes of the wealthy playboys who frequent Kerrington Country Club in Rosemary Beach, Tripp Newark is a hero. Under pressure from his parents to become a lawyer and lead a conservative, upper-class life, Tripp disappeared from town five years ago to travel the world, forfeiting the opportunity to inherit millions. Yet few know what he was really running from...

Bethy Lowry was unraveling long before her boyfriend drowned in a riptide trying to save her after she'd had one too many drinks--again. A trailer park kid working as a cart girl among the wealthy patrons of Kerrington Country Club, Bethy has always been impressionable. But five years ago, before she earned her reputation as a hard-drinking, easy girl, she had spent a single summer with Tripp Newark that changed her life forever...

EXCERPT

Tripp

Present Day…

I sat on my Harley and waited for Bethy to walk out of the clubhouse. Woods had been texting me Bethy’s work schedule every two weeks, and I made sure she made it home from work safely every night. It wasn’t stalking her, exactly. It was just the only way I could remain sane.

Watching over her was all I had. If I got too close, she flipped. The last time I’d tried to talk to her, she'd started screaming. I hadn’t been able to calm her down. I was watching her lose herself slowly. And it was tearing me up.

So I followed her to work everyday, and I followed her home every night. Once she was safely in her apartment, I often sat parked across the road and watched her window until it went dark. She never looked at me, even though I wasn’t hiding the fact I was following her. There was no use in hiding it from her.

The last words she’d actually spoken to me -not screamed at me, because there'd been a lot of that- had been eighteen months ago on the beach when we'd lost Jace. My cousin, my best friend, and the love of Bethy’s life. He’d drowned saving her life when she'd wandered into the ocean drunk and got caught in a riptide. Losing him had taken a part of my soul. He’d been the little brother I never had. He’d been the good Newark heir. He’d been everything I should have been but wasn’t.

And we had loved the same girl. Although he never knew it.

Watching her pull away from life more and more each day was so damn hard. Jace wouldn’t have wanted this. He would have hated it. He loved her more than he loved himself. Seeing her like this would break his heart.

Bethy swung her long dark hair over her shoulder as she stepped out of the clubhouse. The shorts she wore had once been tight and cupped her perfect round bottom. But just like she'd lost the will to live, she’d also lost weight. Too much.

The need to hold her and help her heal was so fucking strong. But she didn’t want me. I hadn’t realized how badly she hated me until I’d returned to Rosemary Beach a little more than two years ago. I'd run like hell eight years ago from a life threatening to suffocate me. My father wanted something for me that I didn’t want, and I hadn’t been able to see my way out.

I had been eighteen years old and scared, because in three short months, one sixteen-year-old girl had become my sole concern in life. Bethy had stolen my heart the summer I met her at Rush's party. When I'd been ready to throw away the life I'd been planning for the past year in order to be with her, my father had reminded me of just how much control he had over me.

I wouldn’t have been able to keep Bethy if I'd stayed. That wasn’t the life he’d let me have. So I'd run, hoping that when I came back in two years, when she was old enough, I could take her with me. But first, I'd needed to escape.

I watched as Bethy opened the door to her old beat-up Ford Taurus and climbed inside. The stiff way she held herself and the way she kept her focus turned away from me told me she knew I was here. She expected me to be there.

Once she would have broken into the biggest, most beautiful smile in the world and run into my arms. But that was the past. I had broken that. I had broken her, and I hadn’t even known.

Six years ago, Dewayne Falco's life changed. He lost someone he never expected to lose. Resigned to punish himself for something he felt he could have prevented, he goes through life without getting too close to anyone.

What he didn't expect was for the girl across the street to move back home and remind him of what they both lost: Dewayne's younger brother Dustin. However, when a miniature version of Dustin opens the door to greet him, Dewayne realizes he might not have lost everything after all.

Sienna Roy loved Dustin Falco most of her life. He was the boy next door, the high school basketball star and her best friend. But when his life was cut short, she realized he left a part of himself behind.

Now, she's back in Sea Breeze, thankful to have a home for her and Dustin's son, but not sure if she can ever forgive the people across the street who abandoned her when she needed them the most — The Falcos.

Betrayal, lies, and forbidden attraction might end Dewayne and Sienna's story before it's even begun.

EXCERPT
“It has been a long time. Why are you here?” I replied, not taking my eyes off Dewayne. He was still larger than life. More so than when I was a teenager. He had a few more piercings now and a couple more tattoos. His shoulders were even wider, and the thick, corded muscles in his arms were intimidating. The man was like a brick wall.

Yet those eyelashes of his were still too thick for a male, and even though he’d pierced his lip, it didn’t take away from the plumpness that women paid good money to mimic. The worn jeans that looked like they needed a good washing hugged him in a way I wanted to ignore. I had to ignore. This man was off-limits to me.

He wasn’t just the nice guy who had been my friend when I was younger. He was also a man who had abandoned me when I’d needed someone the most. Even if he was delicious and what female fantasies were made of, I would never forgive him. Dustin had adored him, yet Dustin’s son didn’t even know him.

He cocked an eyebrow at me, as if he was surprised by my reaction to him. “Came over to see who the new neighbors were. Beat-to-shit car parked out front concerned me. Neighborhood’s not what it used to be.”

Once I wouldn’t have been able to look past his perfectly chiseled face and full lips to get angry with him. That wasn’t the case any longer. My hands fisted at my sides, and I wanted nothing more than to punch him in the nose. I owned that car. I had worked hard to buy that car.

“I’ll keep that in mind. I can assure you we’re not going to cause any problems,” I replied, walking over to the door and putting my hand on it to let him know I was done with this visit and wanted him to leave.

Dewayne frowned, and his dark eyes, which in my dreams had looked at me like he had today when I’d walked into the room, were now narrowed. Great, I’d managed to piss off the massive, monster-size man who could knock me down with one hard puff. “Where did that sweet girl I used to know go? You lose her somewhere?” Dewayne’s voice was even, but the low, menacing sound to it bothered me.

What did he expect me to do? Bat my eyelashes at him and swoon like I had when I was a kid? “She learned to toughen up and trust no one.” I gripped the door, fighting the urge to slam it in his face. Because I was pretty sure he could rip it off its hinges if provoked. “Thanks for stopping by. Now that you know we aren’t about to dirty up the neighborhood with our presence, you can go on back to your parents’ place. We’re fine here.” I started closing the door. Dewayne stepped back. To my surprise, he turned around, then started walking away.

Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines ~ Review

Source:  Received eBook from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Book Description:

Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

My Thoughts:

3 stars - Love Woods so much but Della didn't add up for me

I love Woods.  This is the third book that Woods has been in.  He was a secondary character in Fallen Too Far and Never Too Far.  While I wasn't his fan in the first, I learned to love him in NTF.  I was so excited to see him get his own story.  He needed that.  His father has set him up to marry some "name" to help business and I just couldn't deal with that.  I really wanted him to fall in love.  And he does in Twisted Perfection.

There was so much I loved about this story that it truly pains me to only give it only three stars.  I loved how Woods figures out how to stand up to his dad.  I loved how he figured out what he wanted and went for it.  I loved how the characters I loved so much from FTF and NTF where there.  I loved that there was some serious steam in this book.  I loved how the story was never slow and held my attention.  Loved the ending, right up to the cliffhanger.  Read it in about a day.

I also loved Woods and Della together.  They are so good together.  He silences her nightmares and she empowers him with the strength to make his own choices.  They bring out the best in each other.  They belong together, truly.

So now, you're wondering what's up with only three starts?  It's the details of Della.  She's sweet and broken but she is a puzzle that doesn't make sense to me.  Is my math teacher showing?  Maybe.  I can't really say too much about these things without being spoilery but let me say this.  Someone who has experienced as much emotional trauma as Della has doesn't leave her support system and venture out into the world alone.  Della believes that she will one day loose it and be totally crazy.  That is clear from the start.  Why would she leave her support system and why would her BFF let her leave?  I don't get that.

Other details bug me too.  I'm left wondering about how her father who was raised in foster care ever had an insurance policy large enough to support both her and her mom for years and years after his death without Della's mom needing to work.  That stopped me short.  Della's behavior around guys she'd just met was hard for me to get too.  Other things I just can't say without giving too much away.

Some of this, I could overlook.  But when it all added up to Della, I just didn't get her.  I wanted to.  I wanted her to be this sweet broken girl that Woods needs to take care of but it just didn't work for me.  Will I read book two for them?  Yes.  I love their story even if the details bug me.

Excerpt:

“Boys this is Della. Tripp’s friend,” she smiled at me then pointed to an attractive guy that reminded me so much of Tripp I wasn’t surprised when she said, “That’s Jace.” She then pointed to a guy with long blond curls and a mischievous grin. “That’s Thad.” He winked and I decided I liked him. He had that ‘just for fun’ look about him. “And this is Grant who surprised us by showing up. We thought he was up north again.”  Grant was by far the best looking out of the trio. His dark hair was tucked behind his ears and he had a twinkle in his eye. The sexy smirk he was sending my way was extremely tempting.

“Hello Della, why don’t you come share my seat. I’ll even let you sip from my beer,” Grant drawled.

I thought about saying no but then caught myself and flashed him a smile in return before walking over toward him. “You gonna scoot over or am I supposed to sit in your lap?” I asked hoping the teasing in my voice didn’t sound stupid.

Grant’s smirk grew into a full blow grin. “Hell yeah, I want you to sit in my lap,” he replied.

I was trying to decide if Braden would think this was a bold fun move or if I was coming off as a slut. I could never tell. She was always my gauge for what I should and shouldn’t do. Which was one reason she sent me off to figure life out all by myself.

I might as well go with it now. I’d already acted like a hussy. I stepped over his legs he had propped up on the iron rail that went around the outside of the fire pit and then took a sit in the stranger’s lap.

“He won’t be here long, baby. You might wanna come over here to this lap. I never leave this place,” Thad said from across the fire.

Grants arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me back against his chest.  “You never know, Thad. I might have found a reason to stick around awhile.”

I was pretty sure I was in over my head.

“Grant, play nice. She’s a friend of Tripp’s,” Bethy scolded. I wondered if she was thinking I was some kind of cheap whore now.

“Don’t go getting all tense in my lap now, sweetheart. Lean back and get comfortable,” Grant whispered in my ear. His smooth southern accent made me feel warm. I liked this guy. I managed to relax and do as he said.

“Here, you can have my beer. I’ll get another one next time one of these chumps gets up for another round.”

I didn’t really care for beer. But I also didn’t want to be rude so I took it. “Thanks.”

“You’re most welcome.”

I was surprised that his hands didn’t go to my legs but one stayed around my waist and the other was resting on the arm of the chair. I liked that. He wasn’t assuming I was easy because I’d just crawled into his lap.

“Tell us about Tripp. We haven’t seen him in forfuckinever,” Thad said.

Happy Birthday Abbi Glines! ~ Giveaway

There are some authors that I will do about anything for.  Abbi is one of those authors.  I tend to drop what I'm reading when an Abbi book arrives.  Today is her birthday and a bunch of bloggers are celebrating.  Please join us!

The first book I ever read by Abbi Glines was Breathe

Breathe has  gone through a couple covers and is currently getting spiced up but the thing that I loved about this book was....

JAX!

I'm excited to read the new version and I'm sure I'll still love that boy.

Reading Breathe led me to the other books in the Sea Breeze series.

This second book in the series was for Marcus.  I liked him in Breathe but fell in love with him in Because of Low.  As a matter of fact the best part of this book was...

MARCUS!

Of course, by then I was truly hooked on the series and was seriously excited when the next one came out.

You may be starting to see a pattern here, but the very best part of While it Lasts is...

CAGE!

I'll bet you're not surprised that I read Just for Now as soon as I could get my hands on it.

And by now, you should know that the very best part of this book is...

PRESTON!

These would be Abbi boys!  She's sooooo good at creating the most swoon worthy boys.  Some are flawed and some are misunderstood but all are hot and my very favorite.

There are more Abbi books (That's what I call them). I've read most of them and am excited to have just got Twisted Perfection (Too Far, #3).  It's going to be devoured very soon!  WHY? Well because of....

WOODS!

If you have not started reading Abbi books, you need to get it done!  She has a long list and I've never read a bad one.  Check out all her books here.

Happy Birthday Abbi!
