“What have you been telling people?” Dexter asked as soon as they were behind the rosebushes.

“Can you be more specific?” Jules said.

“Things about me…what we do.”

“Oh. That.” She bit her lip. “I was doing what you said, making our story embarrassing to an audience.”

He crossed his arms. “By telling my mother you threw yourself at me.”

“It makes a more interesting story. Everyone’s tired of hearing how you’re a big bad lady-killer. I thought you’d be grateful.”

“I’m not. No wife of mine should be throwing herself at anyone.”

“Not even her husband?”

He frowned and pursed his lips, looking deep in thought. “I don’t like it. You doing a pole dance while covered in strategically placed Hershey’s Kisses?”

“Hey, I did not add that detail.” She toyed with her bracelets. “But I like it. And I was trying to be inappropriately personal.”

“Well, stop,” he growled, but then dipped his chin and laughed.

4 stars - I so adore Bliss books and this one was  really sweet!

There's nothing quite like a good Bliss book.  I just love them.  This one is part of a yummy series that I've enjoyed in the past.  I've read Falling for her Soldier which comes right before this one.  (Check out my review for it HERE.)   It can easily be read stand alone.  I did enjoy seeing Ellie and Charlie again though.

If you're looking for a quick, light read that's just satisfying, then this is it.   It's a perfect beach read because it takes place in Hawaii and has sun, beach and surfing.  The character development is centered around Justine and Will.  I liked that.  Sometimes it's nice just to deal with who the stories about and not a lot of secondary characters.

These two had been dating a year ago.  Neither wanted it to end but one night changed things.  Justine doesn't really have a clear memory of what happened since her alcohol intake was over that top that night.  When she discovers her Will in a surfing contest, she has a way to find out - with just a little blackmail.

These two are cute together.  Their chemistry is strong and they had already gotten to know each other.  Trying to keep their hands off long enough for Justine to get her interview was fun. 

I really liked both Justine and Will.  Oh course, Will and his dragon tat was my favorite.  That tat had a way of making Justine unable to form a complete sentence. Teehee.

For 99¢, this one should not be missed by any romance lover.

My soundtrack to DEFINITELY, MAYBE IN LOVE

Music plays a very important role in the stories I write. If it isn’t a central theme (like in my book ABBY ROAD where the main characters is a rock star chick), there is always a major musical presence. One of my favorite parts of starting on a new story is coming up with its official “soundtrack”—which I always do, sometimes before I’ve even written one word. I find that songs help move the plot along and even help with character development. Music allows me to get into a character’s skin. It says a lot about a character if we know they’re a hardcore Beatles fan, or if they love punk.

In my book, DEFINITELY, MAYBE IN LOVE, the story isn’t about the music industry, but the two main characters—Spring and Henry—are really into music. Their tastes, however, are as different as night and day. Because of this, I ended up making two separate playlists for each of them. Spring’s songs of choice lean toward female singers, sometimes angry chick rock (because it feels good to be ticked off!) and other times she’s all about cool coffeehouse songbirds. I got loads of Spring’s personality from listening to Alanis Morissette and Sara Bareilles.

What’s even more fun is the playlist I made for Henry is actually a playlist he makes for Spring in the book. The songs are pretty…well…they’re specifically chosen by Henry, so I’m not going to spill right now—I don’t want to spoil it for readers—but I will say that Henry knows Spring has a weakness for sexy singers like Bruno Mars. Hee-hee.

DEFINITELY, MAYBE IN LOVE is also a modern retelling of Pride & Prejudice, so I had almost too much fun listening to a lot of “opposites attract” songs, too. One of my favorites is “Hate That I Love You” by Rihanna and Ne-Yo. It really tells their story!
