Winter Haven Sleigh Tour ~ Week 2 A letter to Santa & comment contest

Today StuckInBooks is excited to join the WinterHaven Sleigh Tour hosted by WinterHaven Books.

This week, I am writing Santa a letter for my book wish that I hope to receive this season.

To see who else has written to Santa, go to WinterHaven Sleigh Tour for a list of participating blogs.

Dear Santa,

I'm wondering how you're doing.  I never hear from you and this once a year letter writing is...um so not my thing.  Wondering if you could get a twitter account so we could keep up.  I'm interested in the reindeer.  How are they doing since I saw them last Christmas?  I hope no one is bullying my guy Rodolph because we're buds and I'm so not gonna be happy if Dasher is picking on him again.

I have your cookies and carrots all planned for Christmas Eve.  Make sure and stop by early so you can have some hot chocolate before you deliver all those presents.

You know I've been a very good book blogger this year.  Really I have.  Not too many poor reviews and I'm always nice when I don't like a book.  You know I am.  Anyways...I really have thought long and hard about what I really want this year.  I know this is not your normal kinda request but you know I'm a blogger and we are ...um a different kind a group.  And just to let you know how kind and generous I am, I willing to share these gifts with my followers, truly.

Okay...on to the portant stuff!  Here's what I so truly CANNOT live without this year.

First, The Infernal Devices last book, CLOCKWORK PRINCESS, comes out March 19th and I really and truly NEED to have happiness for my boy Will.  I know he can be a jerk but he was only protected the people he loved from a terrible fate.  If he could just not have his heart smeared across the pages, I would be oh so happy.  I really don't want Jem to be ripped to bits either but I'm not sure if Cassie can pull of two happy boys in this books so I'm putting my hope on Will.  If you could help that along a bit, that would be fabulous.

Second, and I know this one is ever sooooo far away but truly I am gonna just die if I have to wait until July 2013 to get ORIGIN by Jennifer L Armentrout.  I mean, did you read the end of OPAL?  It's so unfair to make all us dedicated JLA fans wait that LONG to know what happens.  Sooner would be better but if that can't happen, then maybe a distraction to keep us all happy until then?

Finally, and this one is super importantly and definitely the most doable! So there's this author and you might know him because I think he lives pretty close to you.  Anyway, he's writing the LAST book in his series, THE PROTECTOR, and he's being SLOW! Okay, okay, I know that book 3 actually just came out TODAY but seriously Santa, I read it like forever ago and I really and truly NEED the next book.  The ending to RELEASE was um...difficult for me and I NEED to know what happens next.  Yes, I admit I wasn't talking to Matt for a while after I finished but I'm doing better with that.  Cheering him on with book 4 and all.  That's where I was hoping you could, you know, motivate that writer boy to get some words down since he lives so close to you and all.

See, it's not much at all.  Just three tiny little things and I would be such a HAPPY book blogger.

Yeah, I know that you can't do ANY of those things but I girl can hope, right.  Yes I am getting to the book I'm hoping for.  If there could be any book under the tree for me this year, what would it be?  This!

She is only nineteen.

She is his new stepfather’s daughter.

She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far.

So that's it really, Santa.  I hope you really do consider the twitter account, cause I'd love to catch-up a little more frequently.

Take care.

All my love,

Valerie

Sleight Tour ~ Week 1 (Review & GIVEAWAY)

Today StuckInBooks is excited to join the WinterHaven Sleigh Tour hosted by WinterHaven Books. This week, we are posting our choice of a Winter Book Review. To see who else is on the sleigh, go to WinterHaven Sleigh Tour for a list of participating blogs.

The very first review I ever did on StuckInBooks was a Rachel Hawthorne book almost two years ago.  I reviewed Full Moon (Dark Guardian 2).  I had only just discovered PNR and I so loved them.  After I read that series, I hunted down EVERY book that Rachel Hawthorne had written.  I loved her writing.  This book turned up in the mix.  I never reviewed this book on StuckInBooks so it's about time I did.

Source:  Purchased

From Goodreads:

Well, apparently I live here now--my mom just bought the place. And named it after me, Ashleigh, which was nice. But did she know how cold it is here

Um, it's a tiny island with not much to do, unless you really like sleigh rides. But I gotta say there are quite a few hot guys on this cold island . . .

My Thoughts:

5 stars -  Fun & fast YA romance that's perfect for December!

I actually read this a while ago but when I decided to include this review, I picked it up again.  It felt wonderful falling back into its pages.  Ashleigh (Ash) has this fun internal dialog that I find myself giggling at.  Moving from TX to an island in the Great Lakes, in winter!! Talk about culture shock for this girl! She takes it in stride, trying to be supportive of her mother who needs to get away from TX and her ex.  Facing a small school and very few kids her own age, Ash tries to fit in while resisting the urge to have boyfriend.  Apparently, that's the thing here and she's so not into it.  After watching her parents and besides it's more fun to date guys than to have a boyfriend.  One of the native may try and change her mind about that, though.  So fun.  Need more convincing, check this little tidbit out.

I rolled over and sighed.  It was still dark and dreary, but my internal clock told me I needed coffee.

Wearing my not-so-sexy flannel trousers and long-sleeved shirt, I clambered out of bed and put on my fuzzy purple slippers.  Shivering, I slipped on my thick robe, but didn't bother to tie it.  I was going to head quickly down the stairs to the bathroom, where hopefully I could find more warmth, along with my toothbrush and hairbrush.

I dashed down the narrow steps.  When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I turned into the hallway and came up short.

A lumberjack was standing there.

Or at least that's what he looked like.  A really young, really hot lumberjack.  he was tall and broad, with midnight black hair that curled around his ears and across his brow, creating the perfect frame fo rhis startling blue eyes.

He grinned.  "Hey." (page 44-45)

It's a fun one for sure!!  Did I mention that Ash is so NOT a morning person! Really need to read to rest of that scene.  If you love a fun, sweet YA romance, then this one is to be picked up for sure!
